Motorcycle accident repair and insurance claims
After an accident, we see the process through with you, from the accident report and the loss adjuster to the repair and handover.
After an accident, the paperwork and the waiting are often more tiring than the repair itself: the report, the insurance claim, the loss adjuster (eksper), the wait for approval. Bring your damaged bike to us and we will go through the process with you, step by step.
If the other party is at fault, the repair cost is claimed from their compulsory traffic insurance (trafik sigortası), and with traffic insurance you choose the workshop. If you have comprehensive cover (kasko), you can also claim on your own policy. We look at your policy with you and talk through which option suits you.
What we do along the way
- Photographing the damage and working out the repair cost
- Help preparing the documents for the insurance claim
- Getting the bike ready for the loss adjuster’s inspection and talking to the adjuster
- Bodywork, mechanical and electrical repairs once approved
- An itemized list of the work done and the parts replaced when you collect the bike
What to do at the scene
Safety first
If anyone is injured, call 112. If nobody is hurt and you agree on what happened, take your photos, then move the vehicles to the side of the road. If you cannot agree, call 112 without moving the vehicles.
Take photos
Photograph the position of the vehicles, the number plates, the damage and the road from different angles. If there are witnesses, take their contact details.
Fill in the report
If there is only damage to property, both vehicles are insured and you agree, fill in the agreed accident report (Kaza Tespit Tutanağı) together, on the paper form or in the Sigortam360 app from the Insurance Information and Monitoring Centre (SBM). Call 112 if it is a single-vehicle accident, if one of the drivers has no licence or has been drinking, or if one of the vehicles has no traffic insurance.
Tell the insurer
Report the damage to the other party’s traffic insurance or to your own comprehensive cover. Since September 2026, the ALO193 line takes both traffic insurance and comprehensive cover claims in one place. With comprehensive cover, you must report within 5 working days.
Bring the bike in
We start the repair after the loss adjuster’s inspection and approval. If the documents are complete, the traffic insurer must pay within 8 working days.
What you need for a claim
- The agreed accident report, or the police or gendarmerie (jandarma) report and statements
- Registration document (ruhsat)
- ID (for foreign nationals, passport and entry record)
- Photos or video of the accident scene and the damage
- Your IBAN for the payment
- A verified mobile phone number
FAQ
If the accident was not my fault, who pays for the repair?
Property damage is covered by the at-fault party’s compulsory traffic insurance, within the policy limits (400,000 TL per vehicle in 2026). You make the claim to the other party’s insurer, and if the documents are complete, the insurer must pay within 8 working days. We follow up the repair and the loss adjuster’s side.
Do I decide where the repair is done?
With traffic insurance, you choose the workshop. If the insurer wants to limit the payment to the rates of its contracted workshops, it must tell you within two working days. Genuine parts are replaced with genuine parts; equivalent parts are fitted only with your consent.
What if the other party’s insurer does not pay, or pays late?
First, apply to the insurer in writing. If you get no written reply within fifteen days, or you object to the reply, you can apply to the Insurance Arbitration Commission (Sigorta Tahkim Komisyonu) or go to court.
Can I claim for loss of value?
Yes. Since 1 July 2026, loss of value (değer kaybı) has been assessed by the loss adjuster, and the damage claim covers it too. This right applies to motorcycles as well.
My bike has no insurance. Can it still be repaired?
Yes, it can be repaired at your own cost. If the other party was at fault, you also have the right to claim the cost from their insurance. From 1 January 2027, traffic insurance is compulsory for mopeds too.
